Scunthorpe United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Hakeeb Adelakun in the three nil victory over Northampton town at the weekend at Sixfield’s Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Adelakun was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘While Duane Holmes scored two goals in Scunthorpe`s 3-0 win at Northampton, Adelakun continued to be the Cobblers` tormentor-in-chief, grabbing a trio of assists at Sixfields. The winger had scored the decisive goal in the midweek FA Cup Replay between the pair, and he teed up Cameron Burgess and Holmes twice in another dazzling display.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Adelakun for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
