Brian Laws has said the test provided by Gainsborough has shown up areas that the team have to improve on, and that has pleased him as we head towards the season.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the manager explained.

‘I think it was a good workout for a number of players. It wasn’t the greatest of performances but we are only two games in and you don’t pay particular attention to that. It’s about fitness, we did that on the day. Gainsborough are a good side and gave us a tough test. There are areas where the players need to work on but that’s natural, we have got deficiences that we need to strengthen.’

Laws does somewhat qualify that by talking about the youngsters he had involved cause obviously they have a lot to learn, and also they have a lot to learn about how he wants his team to perform, so while he sees them being used, he knows they aren’t yet ready to be relied soley on.

Which is no criticism, but knowing they aren’t at that stage is a bonus because he can train them in what they need to know, and not make the mistake of throwing them in too early.
