Jon Parkin’s loan spell with Scunthorpe has been a successful one, and as a result Alan Knill would like to bring the striker back to Glanford Park next season.

Knill, as he told the official website, knows that the 30-year-old is a Cardiff player so is wary of what he says but would happily have him back next season if possible: ‘I think we would all like Jon Parkin, but he’s not our player.

‘At the moment we have no idea what Cardiff want to do and probably won’t know until they know what division they’re going to be in.

‘They have a great chance of going into the Premier League and at the moment that is their focus, so all we can do is wait and see and monitor the situation.’

Parkin, who has undergone knee surgery and returned to Cardiff, scored six goals in 14 appearances for The Iron since his arrival in February.
