Scunthorpe United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by David Mirfin in the one nil victory over Bolton Wanderers at the weekend at Glanford Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Mirfin was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A goal, a clean sheet, and a vital three points ? it was a good afternoon for Mirfin as Scunthorpe took another step to securing their place in the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs. Heading home a Josh Morris free-kick early on, the centre-back went on to produce an accomplished display to help keep high-flying Bolton Wanderers at bay.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Mirfin for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
