MK Dons’ final home game of the season ended in disappointing fashion as they slumped to defeat against struggling Scunthorpe at stadium:mk on Saturday.

Possession might have been dominated by MK Dons in the first half but chances weren’t converted and they were made to pay for this just ahead of the break, having already hit the bar, when Karl Hawley (41) bundled home.

The second half saw MK Dons continue to pile on the pressure but Sam Slocombe was in fine form for The Iron, making a string of saves to keep out the likes of Shaun Williams, Luke Chadwick, Dean Bowditch and Mathias Doumbe.

Anthony Forde almost added another, but the post denied him, but that didn’t matter in the end with the visitors going away with a vital three-points to keep their League One survival hopes alive, and end MK Dons’ slim play off hopes, which would have ended regardless of the outcome of this game anyway.
