Preston collected a fine Deepdale win over relegation threatened Scunthorpe on Saturday afternoon to get Simon Grayson back to winning ways.

Shortly before the break the deadlock was broken by Preston when Lee Holmes (38) converted a cutback to him.

Former Preston man Akpo Sodje, who had been on month-to-month deals at Deepdale earlier in the season, missed a chance to level for Scunthorpe and the visitors were made to pay for this.

A poor clearance from Iron keeper Eirik Holmen Johansen left Nicky Wroe (77) with the chance to double the lead and he made no mistake as he put the ball into an empty net from 40-yards.

Jack King was denied a goal by the post late on but King (90+3) did get his goal, his first of 2013, when he headed home in injury time to wrap up a 3-0 win and leave Scunny in deep relegation trouble.
