Mark Robins has confirmed Stephen Dawson will be missing again this weekend for Scunthorpe and has also discussed the possibility of adding to the squad by moving into the loan market?

This doesn’t appear too likely ahead of the trip to Dale though!

Dawson, not that Robins feels it’ll make too much difference to him this is against his former side Rochdale, has been ruled out of the next Iron game on Saturday due to his ongoing injury.

Since turning down a new deal at Spotland, to come to Glanford Park, a knee injury has restricted the captain’s involvement and Robins has given an update on his injury to the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

The boss said he’s hopeful of his return soon but isn’t able to put a date to this yet.

‘Stephen is still out and won’t make the game this weekend. He will not be bothered who the game is against but every one that goes by, he will be disappointed to miss.

‘We just want to get to the bottom of what the problem is but it will take an indeterminate period of time.

‘Every day that goes past, he will get closer to fitness and hopefully it will not be too long. I can’t give an update on exact dates but we know he is getting closer to a return.’

Luke Williams and Niall Canavan are out long-term but with Jamie Ness returning against Coventry the Scunthorpe boss doesn’t have any new injury worries going into the weekend.

However, that doesn’t mean he’s not still looking to add to the squad if he can!

Robins added, also in another interview with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, that as much as ‘things move and change all the time’ and he will constantly have ‘players on a list’ the main thing is that any loan additions are ‘the right ones.’

As things stand there’s ‘nothing imminent’ but he’s not ruling out this changing, adding.

‘We are looking for specifics and when you are looking for those players, it becomes a bit more difficult to do something.

‘There is nothing imminent but I might get a phone call with something that might jog my memory or something might become available that wasn`t earlier on. It changes all the time.’
