David Mirfin has joined Scunthorpe from League One rivals Huddersfield.

A fee of £150,000 plus add-ons and a 25% sell on clause has seen the defender join Scunthorpe and the move to the Iron is one that he is delighted with as he feels they are a club that has ambition to match his own: ‘Stan Ternent, my boss at Huddersfield, told me of their interest last week and I came down straight away to meet up with Nigel Adkins and discuss the move,’ Mirfin told the official website. ‘This club really wants to go places and after hearing what they had to say I wanted to sign as soon as possible.

‘I’m delighted to join an ambitious club like this, which wants to win promotion from the division.

‘Speaking to the manager, he sold the club to me and I want to be part of what they’re trying to achieve here.

‘He said he wants to develop me as a player and I’m excited about what lies ahead.’
