Scunthorpe have this week confirmed three players have left Glanford Park with it decided it’s best for all concerned that they move on with immediate effect.

The first released, with it mutually agreed to cancel his contract, was Isaac Assenso who had signed for the Iron following his release by Leeds before this but with his first-team chances limited he’ll seek pastures new.

David Syers was next up, originally signed from Doncaster on loan in 2013 he enjoyed a successful spell playing in 15-matches and scoring five-goals. He then signed on a permanent basis in January 2014.

After his permanent arrival he went on to play in another 31-matches and scored another five-goals in helping Scunthorpe to promotion from League 2 but injuries haven’t been kind to him in recently time with it said ‘both parties believe this move is mutually beneficial.’

Terry Hawkridge, who has seemed on his way out of Glanford Park since making a loan exit to Mansfield last season had been on loan with Lincoln this season with the former Gainsborough Trinity winger also released by mutual consent.

He’s since turned his loan into a permanent move to non-league side Lincoln.

Mark Robins needed to trim the squad, in doing this it’ll not only move on players not in his plans it’ll also increase the chances of him being able to bring in any new players he might want to this month with Conor Townsend since arriving.
