Wilcox has been nominated every month since he replaced Brian Laws as manager, having led the Iron to 24 games without defeat to match a Football League record for unbeaten matches after taking charge of a side.

But York boss Nigel Worthington took the honours for March, as the Minstermen claimed 19 points from a possible 21 to move to within touching distance of the play-offs.

Sky Sports` Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “York`s unbeaten month was underlined by the solid base that Nigel has given the team.

“Six clean sheets in seven games is a record that any club at any level would be thrilled with and the momentum is with York to march into the Play-Off positions, if they can keep it going in April.”

Rochdale midfielder Jamie allen was named League Two Player Of The MOnth.
