Former Scunthorpe defender Neil Cox has joined Crewe, ending speculation of a return to Glanford Park
The veteran has long spoke of his desire to return to Scunthorpe, his hometown club, before finishing his playing career.
And the right-back had said again this summer that he fancied a return to North Lincolnshire, but has instead accepted a two-year deal at Alexandrea.
The 34-year-old had stated his desire to return to Scunthorpe, his hometown club and where he began his career, but has signed a two-year deal at the Railywaymen.
The writing appeared on the wall after Iron boss Brian Laws signed Dave Mulligan, who is expected to operate at right-back, on a free transfer from local rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Cox went on to play for Aston Villa, Middlesbough, Bolton, Watford and Cardiff after leaving Scunthorpe.
He was a free agent this summer after being released by Championship side Cardiff City.
