Scunthorpe will face a trip to non-league side Aldershot in the second round of the FA Cup on the weekend of December 3rd and 4th.

But only if they beat Bury in the first-round replay which will be played on 15th November. The Iron were two up against Bury with goals from Andy Keogh and Ian Baraclough, but let the lead slip. Brian Law was furious that the team let the game slip away but especially at the contentious penalty decision.

Laws said: ‘Can anyone tell me why that was a penalty? The referee told one player it was for shirt-pulling and told someone else it was for a push, so you make up your own mind. The goal gave Bury a lift and they threw caution to the wind to try and get a second. But it’s all about getting through to the next round and we’ve another opportunity to make sure we do.’

Law has also dismissed talk of the third round despite the non league opposition they might face saying: ‘On paper it looks like we’ve a nice path through to the third round, but we’ve the small hurdle of beating Bury first,’
