Iron face another set-back

In what makes the Duffy signing look even more necessary – Iron boss Ian Baraclough has been forced to rule out Garry Thompson for Saturday’s televised home clash with Burnley.

Thompson is still struggling with a groin problem and thus Baraclough has declared that the ex-Morecambe winger won’t be fit for the visit of the Clarets this Saturday.

In his interview, Baraclough told The Iron Player;

“Garry Thompson came into the session on Thursday hoping to do his first full one, but unfortunately he’s had a little bit of a setback and wasn’t able to complete it.”

“He will have to be assessed again. We know he’s very disappointed and he desperately wants to play a part this season”

“There is total frustration there for him at the moment.”

Baraclough went onto to continue updating the Iron on the status of their rather long injury list.

David Mirfin is a possibility to have back on Saturday as the club hope he’s fully recovered from his groin injury.

Cliff Byrne is unlikely to play against the Clarets though, as having seen the consultant about his back: it’s thought that Saturday could prove too soon for the Iron skipper.

Rob Jones, Michael O’Connor and Niall Canavan are all unsurprisingly also out – with nerve and knee problems respectively.
