Scunthorpe will offer contracts to some of the five trialists who impressed while playing for the reserves this week.
With the club still lacking a left winger, and cover to first choice strikers Billy Sharp and Andy Keogh, manager Brian Laws has been running the rule over a host of players.
Five – Robbie Foy, Shane Paul, Daniel McBreen, Warren Moon and Paul Olima – all played in the 4-2 reerves win over Sheffield United’s second string.
Laws has been given the okay to offer deals, with three now exepcted to consider staying at Glanford Park.
They are Foy and Paul, both midfielders, and McBreen.
Foy is a left-winger who left Premiership side Liverpool in the summer, while Paul was on Aston Villa’s books.
McBreen currently plays for Scottish side Falkirk, but is hoping for a move south of the border.

the stronger your squad the better chance u have of gaining promotion.
Well done on signing Ian Morris.
You have started well again this season, but you certainly need to keep the two lads up front fit or hope some bigger clubs don’t come sniffing.
when sharp goes can you stop up without him?
Sharp was a great buy for you he is certainly doing the business for you at present.
You should stay in the play offs, and who know you just might do it.
Howes Morris doing?
