Goalkeeper Josh Lillis will be fighting to keep his spot in goal when Scunthorpe’s No.1 Joe Murphy returns.

The 23 year-old was recalled from his loan spell at League One side Rochdale. And after earning a regular starting spot at Spotland, he is hoping to secure Scunthorpe a place in the Championship next season.

Speacking to Scunthorpe-united.co.uk He said: ‘I came back on the Friday morning before the Burnley game and was straight into it.

‘I got a call from (assistant manager) Kevin Pressman on the Wednesday telling me about the 24-hour recall and obviously with the injury to Joe (Murphy) they got me back as soon as possible.

‘I was happy to come back to be honest.

‘I had been playing regular football for Rochdale all season which has been fantastic but my number one aim has always been to be at Scunthorpe United.

‘I fully enjoyed the time I spent at Rochdale, they have a great set of lads there and a really good management team who made me feel really welcome.

‘The main thing for me is that being there allowed me to play first team football week in week out, the reasons anyone wants to play football in the first place.

But after letting five goals in against Humberside rivals Hull City, does he stand a chance at keeping his spot?
