McNulty pines for longer stay at Scunthorpe

Recently signed Scunthorpe loanee Jim McNulty has wasted no time in stating his desire to lengthen his stay in North Lincolnshire.

The Liverpudlian left-back on loan from Brighton told BBC Radio Humberside how; ‘A permanent move would’ve been great and given me a permanent chance in the Championship.

‘Maybe it’ll get extended in January. I don’t see why not if I’m happy here.’

Given Scunthorpe’s recent propensity for players to come on loan and then head back to their parent club once they find form, this is a very encouraging sign from the ex-Stockport man.

Having been signed to replace the recently departed Marcus Williams: Jim will no doubt be very eager to impress the Iron faithful and show the doubters that signing someone who couldn’t get in Brighton’s first team isn’t always a bad move.

He is believed to have already impressed Nigel Adkins in his short spell on loan at the club at the back end of last season, appearing three times for the Iron: including a start against Nottingam Forest on the final day of the season.

McNulty also admits his previous stint at the club played a significant role in convincing him to join the Iron on loan once more: ‘I expect to be happy here because I was happy with my short stay last time so I would hope there’ll be an extension.’

Let’s hope if that McNulty’s loan deal is indeed lengthened or made permanent, then it’s for all the right reasons and that his original 6 month spell has been a roaring success.

    Great read again!

Its nice to have a player that has the passion to want to play for Scunthorpe and not just sit there on his wages doing nothing, hopefully he can set an example to the other players on the team!

Many thanks, and you’re absolutely right: it’s nice to see a player who seems really committed to a long-term stay: even if he’s only on loan!

Sorry I had to leave the picture blank but none of the Scunthorpe, Brighton or Stockport libraries had a picture of him!
