Iron midfield duo Sam Togwell and Matt Sparrow have been offered improved Contracts to keep them at the club.
Iron Manager Nigel Adkins has been impressed with the pairs performances this season which included a short term captaincy for Sam Togwell.
With the Iron already lost one of there players to Peterborough. Adkins will be desperate to keep the two Midfielder’s, In an attempt to avoid another relegation fight.
Iron general manager David Beeby told Sport Scunny ‘We have given both players a deadline by which we would need a decision from them.
Obviously they are entitled to see what they can get elsewhere, but we have to look after the interests of this club.
‘They both know that we want them to stay, but we need to know if we are going to have to look to replace them.
‘We are still in discussions with both players.
‘Their agents have come back to us about one or two things and we have improved the original offer that was on the table.
‘I believe that we are pretty close to an agreement with Sam and hopefully we are in a similar situation with Matt.’
Iron are believed to be awaiting a reply from out of contract striker Jonathan Forte.
Forte has not managed to hold a regular starting place since joining the Iron 3 years ago
